$1.25M Seed Series Funding Press Release by Jessica Quinn

Creative Gaming Studio Will Use Funds to Expand Hiring and Development Efforts

Oct 12th 2018: Leaftail Labs announced a Seed Series investment of $1.25 million from investors including Shasta Ventures, Maveron, Vulcan Capital, micro-funds, and angels. The new studio focuses on AR gaming, and the financing will be used to push the team’s hiring growth and for further investment into its content and technology platform.

“We are thrilled to be investing behind Jessie, Eli and the Leaftail Labs team through the Shasta Camera Fund,” said Jacob Mullins of Shasta Ventures. “The team’s native camera-first approach to Augmented Reality and depth of creative product vision is incredibly compelling; I have no doubt that they will be driving to redefine the immersive gaming landscape with their work.”

“Our mission is to build a new generation of immersive games that focus on player routine, place and social in the real world and we couldn’t be more excited about our funding partnerships,” said Jessie Quinn, CEO of Leaftail Labs.

Leaftail Labs is the culmination of Quinn and her co-founder Eli Tayrien’s combined decades in the video game industry as well as their recent focus on immersive technology and content while working for HBO. Collectively, the founders have helped ship a number of high profile franchises such as Halo, Destiny, Gears of War, Age of Empires and most recently an Emmy winning VR experience for HBO’s Westworld.

Since starting their hiring push this late summer of 2018, Leaftail Labs has already managed to attract some noteworthy talent by bringing on Rich Werner, the original artist for the hit franchise Plants vs. Zombies, as Art Director.
